Come Fly with Me!
Commemorative Air Force B-29/B-24 Squadron
When the Commemorative Air Force B-29/B-24 Squadron (CAF) needed their marketing efforts to take off, they drafted Azure into service. The CAF, a non-profit association dedicated to honoring American military aviation history and veterans, needed help generating revenue to fulfill its mission.
Planning a 2011 nationwide tour, CAF requested promotional materials that would increase ticket sales for rides on their B-29 and B-24 World War II aircraft – “FIFI” (a recently restored B-29 Superfortress – the one flying B-29 left in the world) and “Ol’ 927” (a Consolidated B-24 bomber, one of only two left flying in the world).
Working closely with the Squadron’s promotional officer, Azure developed a visual theme that paired a vintage feel with modern appeal to effectively deliver CAF’s message. With an optimal balance of graphics, photos, and text, Azure captured the Squadron’s desired mix of historical significance, operational safety, and the uniqueness of the experience – critical to attracting buyers of the 0 – 95 tickets.
“Our marketing program was at ground zero and we really needed someone who could guide us through the start up. After a few meetings Azure helped us into a much better position and our revenue started to flow. Now, many months later, we are seeing continued traffic, and are converting prospects to sales… far beyond our expectations. Thanks Dane for all you and your team have done to help make us successful.” — G. Oliver
A strong understanding of CAF’s needs led Azure to take a templated approach to the development of the brand-unified materials. This enabled the materials to be easily customized and cost-effectively produced for multiple tour dates/locations, while still maintaining an exceptional degree of quality and professionalism. Azure also offered guidance on streamlining the advertising and ticket booking process by driving inbound contacts to the web site to help reduce operational costs.
The effectiveness of the promotional materials, coupled with Azure’s consultative approach to an ongoing communications strategy, has resulted in a significant increase in the number of rides booked per tour location and the speed at which they are booked.
